BETTING RULES

 

  1. General
    1.1 These are the Betting Rules of Puntaa Pty Ltd (“Puntaa”). Puntaa is licensed as a Sports Bookmaker in the Northern Territory (NT), Australia by the Northern Territory Racing Commission (NTRC).
    1.2 These Betting Rules shall be read in conjunction with the Terms and Conditions, which apply to your use of the Puntaa Service provided in whatever form, on this Application (the “Application”) or this Website (the “Website”) (as the case may be) and through whatever delivery mechanism offered.
    1.3 
    These Betting Rules come into force immediately upon acceptance by you, indicating that you agree with and accept to be bound by its terms. You are advised to read these rules carefully. Your continued use of the Application and/or Website means that you accept these rules, which form a binding legal agreement between you and Puntaa. If you do not agree to be bound by them, you should exit the Application and/or the Website immediately.
  2. Definitions
    a. Account means a single user account created by a Player, and verified within 45 days.
    b. 
    Attributes means the characteristics of a Tournament, including Tournament Type, Entry Fee, Rake, Players, Scoring System and Status.
    c. Entry Fee means the bet amount required to enter into a Tournament.
    d. 
    Entry Limit means the maximum number of Players who can enter a Tournament.
    e. Event means a Sporting Event, or a Horse Race, from which Players can Select a Team, Individual, or a Horse respectively.
    f. 
    Horse means the horses participating in the Horse Race Event from which Players can make a Selection.
    g. Horse Race means the horse race Event subject to the relevant Round of a Tournament.
    h. 
    Individual means the person participating in a Sporting Event from which Players can make a Selection.
    i. Join a Tournament means the placement of a bet by a Player providing for participation in a Tournament.
    j. 
    Leaderboard means a display of Players in a Tournament, ranked from highest to lowest based on their respective total Points, since the most recent Live or Resulted Round.
    k. Lobby means the part of the Service which details a list of all Pending, Live and Resulted Tournaments.
    l. 
    Live means a Tournament which you can no longer Join, or if you are a Player in the Tournament, adjust Selections for a Round, with Events occurring during this period.
    m. Guaranteed Prize Pool means a Tournament with a minimum guaranteed Prize Pool regardless of the Entry Fees paid. In the Event that the sum of the Entry Fees paid minus the Rake is less than the minimum guaranteed Prize Pool once a Tournament goes Live, then the Prize Pool will equal the Guaranteed Prize Pool stated. In the Event that the sum of the Entry Fees paid minus the Rake is greater than the minimum guaranteed Prize Pool once a Tournament goes Live, then the Prize Pool will equal the Entry Fees minus the Rake.
    n. 
    Payout means the amount a Player can receive from placing in a resulted Tournament, based on the Prize Pool Split.
    o. Pending means a Tournament in existence which is Joinable, however the first Round Selections are not yet available.
    p. 
    Player means the individual using the Service, with a registered Account, and entered in a Tournament.
    q. 
    Points means the points related to an Event, based on the Event outcome and Scoring System. Points allocated to a Player contribute to a Player’s cumulative score over the course of the Tournament.
    r. Prize Component – means a Player’s Entry Fee minus the Rake.
    s. 
    Prize Pool means the total value of the Payouts available to Players in a Tournament.
    t. Prize Pool Split means the percentage breakdown of the Prize Pool available to be won by Players, dependant on their final placing in a Tournament.
    u. 
    Prize Pool Type means the specific Prize Pool type of Tournament (Fixed, Guaranteed, or Fit-To-Size).
    v. 
    Rake means the portion of the Entry Fee collected by Puntaa for a Tournament.
    w. Resulted means the final Round of a Tournament has been completed and resulted by Puntaa, Points allocated, places for Players have been finalised, and Payouts distributed to those Players that place.
    x. 
    Round means a number of similar Events grouped together in a Tournament. Ie. A Round of games in an NRL season.
    y. 
    Rules means the relevant rules and details according to which a Tournament will be run including the Entry Fee, Prize Pool, Entry Limit, Time Left or Status, Scoring System, and any other relevant Attributes.
    z. Scoring System means the legend for the Points allocated for specific actions and Events, and can be found in the relation to each Tournament in the Information section.
    aa. 
    Selection means the choice or choices, submitted by a Player for each Event for a Round of a Tournament.
    bb. Sporting Event means the sporting league Event subject to the relevant Round of a Tournament. For example, NRL, Super 15 or NBA game.
    cc. 
    Status – the state of a Tournament (Pending, Live or Resulted).
    dd. 
    Team means the teams participating in a Sporting Event from which Players can make a Selection.
    ee. Tournament Duration means the number of Rounds in a Tournament ie. Single Round or Multiple Rounds.
    ff. 
    Tournament means a tournament in which Players enter, make Selections over a single or multiple Rounds, and score Points in accordance with the Rules, until the final Round is Resulted and Payouts distributed.
    gg. Tournament Name means the name of the Tournament.
    hh. 
    Time Left means the time remaining before the Round of a Tournament goes Live, displayed in a countdown timer format.
  3. Entry into a Tournament
    3.1 
    You must have an Account in order to place a bet and Join a Tournament. In the event you do not have an existing Account you will be required to sign up and create an Account.
    3.2 You can view and select from Pending Tournaments within the Lobby. The Lobby provides a list of Pending Tournaments, in addition to filtered Live and Resulted Tournaments.
    3.3 
    If You click on a Tournament from within the Lobby, You will be taken to the individual Tournament page. Here You can see the Tournament Attributes, including but not limited to: Rules, Status or Time Left, Tournament Name, Players, Entry Fee, Prize Pool, Prize Pool Type and Prize Pool Split.
    3.4 
    You can Join a Tournament, if it is an Pending Tournament, prior to the first Round going Live.
    3.5 
    If You click “Join Tournament”, You will be directed to your eWallet to deposit the Entry Fee required, either via credit card, or from existing eWallet funds.
    3.6 
    A Player must pay the Entry Fee to place a bet and enter a Tournament.
    3.7 
    A bet will be considered placed and a Tournament joined, when You receive a confirmation message from Us.
    3.8 
    When Your bet is accepted by Us and You Join a Tournament, we accept Your bet as a counterparty in accordance with these Betting Rules and the Terms and Conditions. When You place a bet by Joining a Tournament, You bet with us, not with other Players who use our Service. We accept all liability for any Payout for a Player on a successful bet in accordance with the applicable Prize Pool Split.
    3.9 
    The Rake is subtracted from the Entry Fee, before the remainder, the Prize Component, contributes to the Prize Pool.
    3.10 
    Once You have placed a bet and Joined a Tournament, You cannot cancel your bet and redeem Your Entry Fee, even where you have yet to enter your Selections. This is subject to Puntaa’s discretion.
  4. Tournament Selections
    4.1 
    Once You have Joined a Tournament, You can make your Selections for the initial Round.
    4.2 
    You can make your Selections by clicking “Make Picks for Round X”, selecting a Team, Individual or Horse for each Event, and confirming Your Selections by clicking “LOCK IT IN”.
    4.3 
    You can adjust your Selections for the upcoming Round, provided the respective Event/s has not gone Live, by clicking “Change Picks for Round X”.
    4.4 
    Once an Event in a Round has gone Live You cannot change your Selection.
    4.5 
    You are responsible for submitting your Selection prior to each Event in a Round going Live, otherwise You receive zero (0) points for each respective Event.
    4.6 
    The time remaining to enter Your Event Selections can be viewed via Time Left next to each respective Event, which counts down the time remaining until the Event goes Live.
    4.7 
    If a bet is inadvertently accepted in respect of an Event, after a Round goes Live, the bet shall be deemed to have been made invalidly and the Player will receive zero (0) points for the Event.
  5. Scoring
    5.1 
    Players entered in a Tournament will accumulate Points based on their Selections for a Round/s.
    5.2 
    If your Selection for an Sporting Event wins, You will receive the Points allocated under the Scoring System for the Tournament.
    5.3 
    If your Selection for a Horse Race Event wins or places, You will receive the Points allocated under the Scoring System for the Tournament.
    5.4 
    If Your Selection for a Sporting Event draws, or loses their Event, You will receive zero (0) points, unless otherwise stated under the Tournament’s Scoring System.
    5.5 
    If Your Selection for a Horse Race Event does not place, You will receive zero (0) points, unless otherwise stated under the Tournament’s Scoring System.
    5.6 
    If you select a Team for a Sporting Event or Horse Race Event and the relevant Event is cancelled, abandoned or postponed beyond the scheduled date, you automatically receive zero (0) points for that Event, unless otherwise stated under the Tournament’s Scoring System.
    5.7 
    For your Selection of an individual/s in a Sporting Event, You will receive the Points allocated under the Scoring System for the Tournament.
    5.8 
    Players will be ranked on the Leaderboard, in descending order, based on their cumulative Points total at the completion of a Round.
    5.9 
    The Leaderboard displays the Players that place, and are entitled to a Payout, post the Resulting of the Tournament.
    5.10 
    Puntaa utilises Third Party Suppliers, who provide official results and statistics for each Sporting Event and Horse Racing Event. Puntaa hold no responsibility for any errors in results and statistics provided by these operators.
    5.11 
    Final Points for each Player will be determined, only once a Tournament has been officially Resulted by Puntaa.
  6. Prize Pool and Payouts
    6.1 
    A Player pays an Entry Fee to place a bet and Join a Tournament.
    6.2 
    The Rake is subtracted from the Entry Fee, before the Prize Component contributes to the Prize Pool.
    6.3 
    The Prize Pool total represents the number of Players multiplied by the Entry Fee, minus the Rake, except where a Guaranteed Prize Pool exists.
    6.4 
    Where a Tournament has a Guaranteed Prize Pool, the Prize Pool will be at least equal to, or exceed, the Guaranteed Prize Pool stated, once the Tournament goes Live.
    6.5 
    A Player can view the Prize Pool and Prize Pool Split, which displays the minimum number of eligible Prize winners, from the individual Tournament page.
    6.6 
    Winning Players will be displayed on the Leaderboard in descending order of those Players with the highest Point totals, at the Resulting of the Tournament.
    6.7 In the event that two or more Players finish on the same Points total in a Resulted Tournament, the Payouts will be combined and split equally among the those Players. Two examples:
          a. 
    If two Players in a Tournament finish on equal points in first place, the Payouts for first and second will be combined and shared equally between those two Players. If there Payouts for three or more places, the next highest ranked Player, would receive the Payout for third place.
          b. 
    If a Tournament has a Payout for the top two Players and three Players finish on equal points in second place, the Payout for second place would be shared equally between those three Players.
    6.8 
    Once a Tournament has been Resulted, Payouts will be credited to each placing Players eWallet, in accordance with the Prize Pool Split for the Tournament.
    6.9 
    The Payout to a Player who places in a Tournament represents the payment for a successfully placed bet.
    6.10 
    A Player who receives a Payout, may waive their right to receive the Payout.
    6.11 
    A Payout is non-transferable and non-assignable.
    6.12 
    Puntaa accepts all liability for the Payout, won by a Player on a successful bet.
    6.13 
    Where an error occurs through the provision of incorrect statistics or results from our Third Party Suppliers, or a mistake made by Puntaa, we reserve the right to revise Tournament Points and corresponding places and Payouts to Players, after the Resulting of the Tournament.
    6.14 
    Any Payout won by a minor shall be forfeited.
  7. Tournament Types, Scoring and Duration
    7.1 
    Puntaa offers a range of Prize Pool Types to Players:
          a. 
    Fixed Tournament –
    A Fixed Tournament has a set number of Players required in order for the Tournament to go Live. In the event that the Entry Limit of Players is not reached, the Tournament will be cancelled and the Entry Fee paid by each Player returned.
          b. 
    Guaranteed Tournament –
    We guarantee a Guaranteed Prize Pool for all Guaranteed Tournaments. This ensures that a Tournament will proceed regardless of the number of Players entered. Where a Tournament has a Guaranteed Prize Pool, the Prize Pool will be at least equal to, or exceed, the Guaranteed Prize Pool stated, once the Tournament goes Live.
          c. 
    Fit-to-Size Tournament –
    Fit-to-Size Tournaments will go Live even where the Entry Limit for Players isn’t met. The Prize Pool and Prize Pool Splits will reflect the number of Players who actually enter the Tournament, when the Tournament goes Live.
    7.2 
    Each Tournament has a Tournament Duration, either a single Round (i.e. Horse Races over the course of a single Horse Race meeting or a round of the AFL) or multiple Rounds (e.g. multiple weeks or a season of AFL).
    7.3 
    Tournament scoring is specified in detail in each Tournament’s Scoring System, accessible within a Tournament’s Rules.
  8. Betting Rules
    8.1 Each Puntaa Tournament will run in accordance with the Puntaa Terms and Conditions and the applicable Betting Rules.
    8.2 
    You are permitted to enter each Tournament only once.
    8.3 
    Puntaa may place restrictions on the types or number of Tournaments, a Player may enter, at its discretion.
    8.4 
    Tournaments may be cancelled at any time, at Puntaa’s discretion, resulting in all Entry Fees being returned to Players.
    8.5 
    All bets You place and Selections made, are placed, received and processed in the Northern Territory.
    8.6 
    Where a dispute exists concerning the outcome of a Tournament, Puntaa’s decision is final and binding, subject to a Players recourse with the NTRC.
    8.7 
    Below are the applicable rules for specific Sporting Events and Horse Racing Events Puntaa offer.
  9. Horse Racing
    9.1 
    If the Horse you have selected in an Event is scratched, you will receive the NSW TAB Substitute Favourite, if you do not select an alternative Horse by the time the Event commences.
    9.2 
    Points will be finalised after correct weight has occurred for the Horse Race. In the event there is a protest, Points will not be awarded until the protest decision has been finalised and correct weight has been confirmed for the Horse Race.
    9.3 
    If three or more Horse Race Events are abandoned in a Round of a Tournament, the Tournament will be cancelled and Entry Fees returned to Players.
    9.4 
    If a Horse Race Event is abandoned, or postponed beyond the scheduled date, all Players will receive zero (0) pts for that Horse Race Event.
    9.5 In the event that two or more Horses dead heat for a win or a place, all Players who Selected one of the Horses who dead heats, will be awarded the same Points under the Tournament Scoring System.
    Two examples:
          a. 
    If a Tournament has Points allocated for the top three Horses in an Event who place, and two Horses in an Event dead heat in first place, all Players who Selected either Horse will each be awarded the Points allocated for first place under the Scoring System. The next Horse to finish will be in third place and all Players who Selected that Horse will each be awarded the Points allocated for third place under the Scoring System.
          b.  If a Tournament has Points allocated for the top three Horses in an Event who place, and two Horses in an Event dead heat in third place, all Players who Selected either Horse will each be awarded the Points allocated for third place under the Scoring System. The Players who selected the Horses who finished in first and second place will each be allocated the Points allocated for first and second place respectively, under the Scoring System.
  10. American Football
    10.1 
    Points will be based on the official result by the governing body, including any overtime (a 15 minute extension of normal time played to determine a winner after a drawn match at the conclusion of normal time. This can extend to further 15 minute periods during the Playoffs until a result is determined).
    10.2 
    If Your Selection for a Sporting Event draws, or loses their Event, You will receive zero (0) points, unless otherwise stated under the Tournament’s Scoring System.
    10.3 If an Event is abandoned prior to or during play, or postponed beyond the scheduled date, all Players will receive zero (0) pts for that Event.
  11. Australian Rules Football
    11.1 
    Points will be based on the official result by the governing body, including any overtime (two five minute extensions of normal time played to determine a winner after a drawn match at the conclusion of normal time during the Playoffs. This can be extended until an additional score is made by one Team where both teams are still tied after extra time).
    11.2 
    If Your Selection for a Sporting Event draws, or loses their Event, You will receive zero (0) points, unless otherwise stated under the Tournament’s Scoring System.
    11.3 
    If an Event is abandoned prior to or during play, or postponed beyond the scheduled date, all Players will receive zero (0) pts for that Event.
  12. Basketball
    12.1 
    Points will be based on the official result by the governing body, including any overtime (a 5 minute extension of normal time played to determine a winner after a drawn match at the conclusion of normal time. This can extend to further 5 minute periods as required if teams are still drawn at the end of each additional overtime period/s).
    12.2 
    If Your Selection for a Sporting Event loses their Event, You will receive zero (0) points, unless otherwise stated under the Tournament’s Scoring System.
    12.3 
    If an Event is abandoned prior to or during play, or postponed beyond the scheduled date, all Players will receive zero (0) pts for that Event.
  13. Cricket
    13.1 
    Points will be based on the official result by the governing body, including a winner determined by bowl out or super over.
    13.2 If an Event is affected by external factors, such as bad weather, the result will be based on the official competition rules. This includes Events affected by a mathematical calculation such as the Duckworth-lewis method.
    13.3 If Your Selection for a Sporting Event draws or loses their Event, You will receive zero (0) points, unless otherwise stated under the Tournament’s Scoring System.
    13.4 If an Event is abandoned prior to or during play, postponed beyond the scheduled date, or the Event venue changed, all Players will receive zero (0) pts for that Event.
  14. Cycling
    14.1 
    Points will be based on the official result by the governing body.
    14.2 
    Points will be based on the podium positions. In the event of disqualification within 24 hours of the event, the revised podium positions will count to determine the result, otherwise the initial podium position determine the result. If there is no podium presentation bets are settled on the official result.
    14.3 
    If more than half the Sporting Events are abandoned in a Round of a Tournament, the Tournament will be cancelled and Entry Fees returned to Players.
    14.4 
    If a Sporting Event is abandoned, or postponed beyond the scheduled date, all Players will receive zero (0) pts for that Sporting Event.
    14.5 In the event that two or more riders dead heat for a win or a place, all Players who Selected the one of the riders will be awarded the same Points under the Tournament Scoring System.
    Two examples:
          a. 
    If a Tournament has Points allocated for the top three riders in an Event who place, and two riders in an Event dead heat in first place, all Players who Selected either rider will each be awarded the Points allocated for first place under the Scoring System. The next rider to finish will be in third place and all Players who Selected that rider will each be awarded the Points allocated for third place under the Scoring System.
          b.  If a Tournament has Points allocated for the top three riders in an Event who place, and two riders in an Event dead heat in third place, all Players who Selected either rider will each be awarded the Points allocated for third place under the Scoring System. The Players who Selected the riders who finished in first and second place will each be allocated the Points allocated for first and second place respectively under the Scoring System.
  15. Rugby League
    15.1 
    Points will be based on the official result by the governing body, including any overtime and/or golden point (two five minute extensions of normal time played to determine a winner after a drawn match at the conclusion of normal time during the NRL Regular Season or Playoffs. In the Regular Season overtime is governed by golden point, whereby the first Team to score wins the Sporting Event. If neither Team scores during the 10 minutes the game is considered a draw. During the Playoffs, golden point is only activated if 10 minutes of overtime results in a draw.).
    15.2 
    If Your Selection for a Sporting Event draws, or loses their Event, You will receive zero (0) points, unless otherwise stated under the Tournament’s Scoring System.
    15.3 
    If an Event is abandoned prior to or during play, or postponed beyond the scheduled date, all Players will receive zero (0) pts for that Event.
  16. Rugby Union
    16.1 
    Points will be based on the official result by the governing body, including any overtime (two ten minute extensions of normal time played to determine a winner after a drawn match at the conclusion of normal time during the Playoffs. This will extend to Sudden Death and a Kicking Competition, if required, to gain a result).
    16.2 
    If Your Selection for a Sporting Event draws, or loses their Event, You will receive zero (0) points, unless otherwise stated under the Tournament’s Scoring System.
    16.3 
    If an Event is abandoned prior to or during play, or postponed beyond the scheduled date, all Players will receive zero (0) pts for that Event.
  17. Disqualification, errors and cancellation
    17.1 
    A Player’s participation in any Tournament can be withdrawn at any point in time where they fail to comply with the Terms and Conditions or Betting Rules, or at Puntaa’s absolute discretion.
    17.2 
    Puntaa reserves the right to cancel or alter the terms of any Tournament, at our discretion.
    17.3 
    We reserve the right to cancel a bet where an error has occurred, and reimburse Players their Entry Fees.
    17.4 
    You agree that We may retrospectively void or adjust the Result of a Tournament as a result of an error, or change in results or statistics from our Third Party Providers. You agree that the Payout for such a bet will be redeemable from your eWallet, or that we will be entitled to a repayment from You in relation to the bet, where it has been withdrawn from Your eWallet, where an amount is outstanding due to the adjustment.
    17.5 
    Puntaa employees are ineligible to participate in any Tournament which involve a Entry Fee and Payout. Should an occurrence transpire where a Puntaa employee is involved in a Tournament, they will be disqualified, and should they place and be involved in Payout, all Players positioned below them will move up by a Resulted placing and respective Payout, as if the employee had not participated.
